Tesla Expands Its Market with Car Rental Service

Tesla has taken a step into the car rental business by adding a new innovative solution in the electric vehicle sector. The company has started offering car rental services at its San Diego and Costa Mesa showrooms, with prices starting at $60 per day.

Flexibility and Advantages in Rentals

Tesla offers a rental period of a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven days, providing users with many advantages during the rental process. Rental prices vary based on the selected Tesla model. Additionally, the rented vehicles offer the opportunity to benefit from free charging at Supercharger stations and access to the Full Self-Driving feature at no extra cost.

Purchase Incentive

If customers are satisfied with the Tesla vehicles they rented, they will receive a $250 credit towards their purchase if they complete the buying process within one week of the rental date. This strategy aims to put potential customers behind the wheel of a Tesla, ultimately encouraging them to purchase a vehicle.

Differentiation Strategy from Competitors

Tesla plans to differentiate itself in the car rental service with a direct revenue stream it has created. However, considering that rental companies like Hertz have pulled out of the rental business due to the declining resale value of Teslas, this strategy could be a pivotal step for Tesla.
