Şimşek: Tourism Revenues Strengthen the Current Balance

Tourism Assessment by Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated on his social media account that he examined the September foreign trade data and third-quarter tourism statistics.

Third Quarter Performance

Şimşek noted that tourism revenue increased by 3.9% year-on-year during the third quarter, while the number of visitors also rose by 1.9% in the same period. With this growth, the annualized tourism revenue was recorded at 63.8 billion dollars, while the number of visitors reached 63.1 million.

Export and Current Balance Target

Minister Şimşek expressed that the annualized export figure reached approximately 270 billion dollars in September, emphasizing that these figures support a stable outlook in tourism and the export performance in line with the sustainable current balance target.

Şimşek also stated, "We will continue to increase our competitiveness in goods and services exports with policies focused on branding, sustainability, and high added value."
