Milestone Systems invited 55 AI developers from around the world to come up with new ideas for safer and more efficient video surveillance through a press release made on November 13, 2025. The event showcasing these innovative inventions was held at the historic Carlsberg Museum.

At the event, a new Vision Language Model (VLM) supported by NVIDIA was introduced. This model was trained on 75,000 hours of ethically sourced video data and offered participating developers early access. The developers worked on a challenge to enhance smart city solutions by using the VLM to create integrated solutions with third-party applications.

The event featured presentations from key players such as NVIDIA, AWS, Dell, and Intel. Participants shared insights about the future of the world.

Thomas Kreutz was selected as the winner of the event. Kreutz transformed live city cameras into a system that provides instant, privacy-focused responses using Hafnia's VLM API. "For me, the hackathon was a great opportunity to come out with a project that is applicable in real life," he said.

During the hackathon, 6 finalists were determined. Kreutz’s project stood out as an application that would enhance the quality of life in cities. The winner was awarded 5,000 Euros and a NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit. Other notable projects included VLM for Emergency Response, developed for emergency situations, and SmartMap, which combines event detection.

Milestone Systems is recognized as a leading company in data-driven video technologies, having a wide customer portfolio globally. It continues to work towards a secure future with its XProtect video management software and other AI-powered solutions.
