Beijing-based research firm Counterpoint's data reveals that after the launch of the iPhone 17 series on September 19, iPhone sales in China increased by 22% compared to the same period last year. This figure was achieved despite a contraction in the overall market.

The new iPhone series accounted for a significant portion of Apple's smartphone sales in China during this period; the iPhone 17 series represented nearly 80% of the units sold to consumers. In contrast, the sales of the iPhone 16 series, launched in September of the previous year, resulted in a 5% decline in its first month.

The iPhone 17 launch attracted hundreds of people to Apple's flagship store in Beijing. This situation demonstrates the ongoing interest in the brand despite competition from rivals like Xiaomi and Huawei. However, the smartphone market in China remains weak due to sluggish consumer demand; according to the research firm, third-quarter sales experienced a year-on-year decline of 2.7%.
