Stocks traded on Borsa İstanbul had a week that did not bring smiles to investors' faces. In weekly terms, stocks lost an average of 3.28 percent, clearly reflecting the impact of fluctuations in the markets. The BIST 100 index traded in a significant range, seeing a low of 10,373.75 points and a high of 11,044.47 points; it completed the week at 10,565.74 points, down 3.28 percent compared to the previous week's closing.
On the other hand, gold prices, which are considered a safe haven by investors, gained value this week. During this period, the gram price of gold increased by 1.69 percent, boosting investors' profits. This rise was expected as gold is generally preferred by investors during uncertain times.
In addition, currency exchange rates showed a noteworthy performance. Euro/TL gained 0.80 percent, attracting investors' interest. The dollar/TL also showed an increase of 0.28 percent. These developments are being interpreted as a reflection of the fluctuating nature of the currency markets.
These fluctuations in the markets and the diminishing trust require investors to be more cautious in their asset selection. Some investors avoiding stocks are turning to seemingly safer assets such as gold and currencies. The volatility observed in recent weeks indicates that investors are looking to develop more effective strategies.
Especially in recent times, economic data and global developments are creating more uncertainty in the markets. Experts emphasize that investors should focus not only on short-term gains but also on long-term investments. This way, they can become more protected against sudden changes occurring in the markets.
