Stocks traded on Borsa İstanbul have had a week that did not please investors. Stocks lost an average of 3.28 percent on a weekly basis, clearly showing the impact of volatility in the markets. The BIST 100 index saw a low of 10,373.75 points and a high of 11,044.47 points, trading within an important range; it ended the week at 10,565.74 points, down 3.28 percent compared to the previous week's closing.
On the other hand, gold prices, viewed as a safe haven by investors, gained value this week. During this period, the price of gold per gram increased by 1.69 percent, boosting investors' profits. Since gold is generally preferred by investors during uncertain times, this rise was anticipated.
Additionally, currency rates also demonstrated a noteworthy performance. Euro/TL gained 0.80 percent, attracting the interest of investors. The Dollar/TL showed an increase of 0.28 percent. These developments are considered a reflection of the volatile nature of the currency markets.
The fluctuations in the markets and the loss of confidence require investors to be more cautious in their asset choices. Some investors, avoiding stocks, are turning to safer-looking assets such as gold and currencies. The volatility seen in recent weeks indicates that investors are developing more effective strategies.
Especially recently, economic data and global developments are creating more uncertainty in the markets. Experts emphasize that investors should consider both short-term gains and long-term investments. This way, they can become more protected against sudden changes occurring in the markets.
