Amazon, along with Microsoft, has decided to support a law that further restricts Nvidia's ability to export chips to China. This development was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The law, known as the Guarantee and Innovation for National Artificial Intelligence (GAIN AI Act), is also supported by the AI initiative Anthropic. This law was introduced under the framework of the National Defense Authorization Act and requires artificial intelligence chip manufacturers to prioritize domestic orders, ensuring that advanced processors are provided to domestic customers ahead of foreign demand.

Microsoft is one of the publicly announced supporters of this law, while officials from Amazon's cloud unit have privately conveyed their support for the law to Senate staff.

There is no information indicating that Meta Platforms or Alphabet's Google companies have taken a stance on the law. Additionally, US President Donald Trump has remained silent on the status of the law.

On the other hand, Nvidia, as a leader in the global chip market, has previously stated that the GAIN AI Act may restrict international competition and limit the computational power available to other countries. The said law reflects Washington's efforts to prioritize American needs amid concerns that China could use its high-tech artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance military power.
