Search for a Solution to the Hat Damage of Farmers in Adana

The President of Adana Farmers' Union, Mutlu Doğru, announced that there have been significant declines in milk and meat production due to the adverse conditions created by the foot-and-mouth disease affecting the region. This situation has led many producers to experience losses related to their livestock and disruptions in cash flow. Doğru expressed that farmers are struggling to pay their debts and have fallen into financial difficulties.

Foot-and-mouth disease is not only a significant issue threatening animal health but also a situation threatening the economic sustainability of producers. Doğru emphasized that producers urgently await support to ensure that existing animals are not sent for slaughter and that they can continue to produce. In this context, he stated that farmers should not send their animals for slaughter due to their debts; instead, they should be supported to sustain their operations.

The economic difficulties occurring in the region negatively affect not only producers but also many individuals working in the agricultural sector. In a province like Adana, where agricultural activities are intense, the failure to take necessary measures to protect animal health threatens the overall welfare of the community and leads to greater losses for producers during festivals and other traditional periods. Farmers should increase their efforts to protect their production areas and keep their animals healthy to avoid future uncertainties.

In this regard, Doğru called for the government to issue a Presidential Decree to create a new support package for farmers. These supports would help producers get out of a situation where they would have to slaughter their animals and enable them to establish a sustainable production environment. Thus, the aim is to overcome the negative conditions in the agricultural sector and provide farmers with the opportunity to demonstrate a strong presence once again.
