Search for Solutions to Farmers' SHAP Grievances in Adana

The President of the Adana Farmers' Union, Mutlu Doğru, announced that there has been a significant decline in milk and meat production due to the adverse conditions caused by the foot-and-mouth disease prevailing in the region. This situation has led to many producers experiencing losses related to their livestock and disruptions in their cash flow. Doğru expressed that farmers are struggling to pay their debts and have fallen into financial difficulties.

Foot-and-mouth disease is not only a significant threat to animal health but also a situation that jeopardizes the economic sustainability of producers. Doğru emphasized that producers urgently need support to prevent current livestock from being sent to slaughter and to continue their production. In this context, he stated that farmers should not have to send their animals to slaughter due to their debts and instead need to be supported to sustain their businesses.

The economic difficulties in the region affect not only the producers but also many individuals working in the agricultural sector. In a province like Adana, where agricultural activities are intense, the failure to take necessary measures for the protection of animal health threatens the general welfare of the community, while causing producers to suffer even more losses during holidays and other traditional periods. Farmers should increase their efforts to protect their production areas and keep their animals healthy in order to avoid uncertainties in the future.

In this context, Doğru called on the government to issue a Presidential Decree to establish a new support package for farmers. These supports would help producers escape the situation of having to slaughter their animals and create a sustainable production environment. Thus, it is aimed that the negative situations experienced in the agricultural sector can be overcome, providing farmers with an opportunity to demonstrate a strong presence again.
